World We Imagine Part I
Creating a better world is subjective. I believe that even if you make the world better for one person, you can make the world worse for another, for example, even if you create a great system, idea, or business, there are always people exploiting others for their own gain.
Still, I don’t think that means we shouldn’t try. For me, the first step toward making some kind of positive difference is just helping one person even if that’s through a small act, a helpful app, or a business idea that gives people more control in their lives. For me, I am a big advocate of health, and I personally want help contribute to any health and scientific research, despite me having no medical knowledge at all.
At the end of the day, I know I can’t solve everything or please everyone, but I don't really care as long as our society keeps evolving and innovating. Ideally, I would like to find a way to make a lot of money to help solve first world problems (unfortunately the world does not treat the poor well), and decide where to invest my money for meaningful changes. I will have to lock in and get my bag up and be balling.
Richard, first choosing to secure yourself and then turning your focus outward later in life is a completely legitimate path that many people follow. I hope you are able to achieve the success you seek and eventually possess the financial means to invest in meaningful change (particularly in health and scientific research). Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Richard, this is the first time I've seen your serious tone and approach so I'll also try and be genuine with my input rsther than just laughing or making fun. It was fun to read your unique approach about the contradictions in trying to do good while still navigating a messy world. Since you're passionate about health but don’t have a medical background, maybe the next step could be exploring ways tech and design intersect with public health, like volunteering for a digital health startup, or even funding community wellness projects around . You clearly get the big picture, and just starting small could connect you to the right people and ideas and then maybe you could hop into the VC world like our other Affinity members for this assignment. So keep chasing the bag and the impact you bring with it. Since you're so fond of whoop band, might want to look into that segment of health and tech.
ReplyDeleteHi Richard, thanks for the post. I have no doubt you will lock in and get that bag. I also agree that nobody can change the entire world, but every can make one step closer to that goal every day. I think you have a great understanding of the magnitude and impact we can make on others, especially les fortunate people.
